Product Description

Acorn stairlifts are powered by direct current (DC) supplied by rechargeable batteries. These deliver a smooth, ultra-quiet and safe ride quality. The batteries are maintenance-free and charged by a safe 15 volt AC, which is stepped-down from the domestic mains supply with a transformer. Using this method of power for your stairlift has many advantages. If there is ever a power failure in your home your stairlift continues to function, so you will never get stranded. There is no mains voltage power to your stairlift. As the power supply is onboard the stairlift itself there is no troublesome trailing cable as you get with AC powered lifts. DC battery power gives an extremely smooth and near silent operation. It also allows us to build in a ‘soft start / soft stop’, this means that there is no jolting or lurching as your stairlift starts or finishes its journey. This adds to the feeling of safety and stability.
