According to retail sales figures, the Omron Blood Pressure Monitor HEM-780  is the best selling Home BP monitor ever made. Last year I reviewed this very same monitor, and though I was quite pleased with its features and performance, its price excluded it from contention as a best value. Well, ladies and gentleman I am now pleased to award the Omron HEM-780 Blood Pressure Monitor with the very prestigious honor (of bestowing upon it) ‘the bed pans lifted to the most high, bed pans lifted to the sky award’ for the best value in a blood pressure monitor under $100.

What changed my mind? Well, the last time I reviewed this monitor; it just barely made the cut and came in at a standard retail price of $99.99. In last year’s review, I told you that I really liked the monitor; but that its price precluded it as a best value. A lot of things have changed in the last year, and the HEM-780 is now one of the less expensive units from the group of monitors, which we reviewed last year. With many e-tailers offering this monitor for $65 to $80 depending on the package, the decision to make this my choice for the Best Value was a no brainer.

Just in case you missed last year’s review of the Omron Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor HEM-780, I will summarize our findings from the review. I can’t possible cover all of the important features of this truly excellent monitor; so, I will just touch on a few of the best ones.

First and most importantly about this monitor, is the HEM-780′s ability to detect Morning Hypertension. Words cannot adequately describe how valuably important this feature could possibly be. Morning Hypertension, or an elevated morning blood pressure level, is one of the leading indicators and warning signs of potential stroke or heart attack. Knowing about this type of hypertension early, and then seeing your physician for additional diagnosis, may possibly save your life. I have talked about this technology before; however, I can never stress enough how valuable it can be.

The large comfit cuff, which comes with the Omron HEM-780 home blood pressure monitor is also another very useful feature. The large, adaptable cuff enables even large men or women to comfortably use it. I am a pretty big guy myself, and the cuff fit easily with plenty of room to spare. Also, I like the fact the cuff is very stiff, and not one of those plushy, mushy type things. Stiffer cuffs allow for much more accurate readings than do the soft ones.

This monitor is like a tank in its quality construction, and will last a long time. The huge LED Display makes for easy reading of pressure check results. I guess, the only thing I don’t like about this monitor is the fact that the tube, from the machine to cuff, is tad bit short.

Nevertheless, this BP home blood pressure monitor is as good as they get. It is well made, accurate and dependable. Therefore, let all others be made aware that the new king of sub $100 BP monitors is the Omron Blood Pressure Monitor HEM-780 .
